James Flick has been teaching voice for nearly 14 years (yes, the picture is
rather outdated). Mr. Flick previously taught at Southeastern Louisiana
University in Hammond, LA and Marshall University in Huntington, WV
while pursuing a graduate degree .  Mr. Flick currently teaches at the Center
Stage Performing Arts Academy in Gonzales, LA and at Flick Vocal Studios in
Baton Rouge, LA.  He received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in
Pittsburgh, PA and his MM from Southeastern Louisiana University. Mr. Flick
has also received training at such notable programs as the German School for
Singers in Middlebury, VT and the Chautauqua Institute in Chautauqua, NY.
He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS)
and is active as a clinician and adjudicator.

Mr. Flick has performed with the Carnegie Mellon Opera Theatre (PA),
Pittsburgh’s Civic Light Opera (PA), The Opera Theater of Pittsburgh (PA),
Lakeview Theater (WV), The Kent Singers (CT), the Marshall University
Symphony (WV), Cantori Montani (WV), the SLU Opera Theatre (LA), and
as soloist for the SLU University and Concert Choirs (LA). He has appeared
in recital at the Skiff Mountain Concert Series (CT), the Huntington Museum
of Art (WV), and the Midday Music Concert Series at Tulane University (LA).

Former students of Mr. Flick’s have been accepted into some of the finest
colleges and universities in the country including the Cincinnati Conservatory
of Music, the Hart School of Music, Louisiana State University,  Northwestern
State University, and Southeastern Louisiana University.  His students have
also been accepted into such notable schools and programs as New Orleans
Center for the Creative Arts, Interlochen Arts Camp, the Oklahoma City
University H
igh School Musical Theater Program and the American Musical
and Dramatic Academy.  Mr. Flick’s students have recently placed at such
competitions as Access Broadway and the National Association of Teachers of
Singing Southern Region Conference.
